The Full Story

Our story began with a Titanium Dioxide based road spray, which essentially captured NOx released by cars, however this was quickly debunked by Environmental Specialists, regarding the spray to air ratio, meaning NOx released by cars would prefer going into the air over attaching to our spray.

In response to feedback, our team decided to focus on targeting train pollution, improving current air filtration systems in stations.

Therefore began the iterative process, leading to our final product, an air filter system, comprised of 2 types of filters, layered in a sandwich like model, these being an activated carbon filter, to remove dust particles, followed by a Titanium Dioxide impregnated filter to remove NOx and finally another activated carbon filter, to filter out any pollutant gas released by the reaction between NOx and Titanium Dioxide.

After many weeks of hard work, our final prototype came about, named DENOx.

Our first installation will occur in Birmingham New Street, with the nitrate salt by - product being used for a new initiative 'The Digbeth Roof Top Farm'.
